Darcy is a spirited, creative, fashion-forward kid who has a wide variety of interests. He rocks the colour pink, has his own YouTube channel (where he gives audiences helpful tips and tricks about video gaming), loves swimming, dodgeball, and playing the harmonica.
Darcy lives with a progressive neuromuscular disorder, but his condition has not slowed him down one bit. You can find him tearing up the streets in his electric wheelchair, playing with friends, creating movies, planning his next move in his favourite game Battle Cats, and cheering on his favourite basketball team, The Toronto Raptors.
Above all else, Darcy loves films and dreams of being a movie director one day. It came as no surprise that Darcy’s wish was to go to Universal Studios Hollywood.
Darcy and his family were whisked off to Los Angeles for a VIP tour of Universal Studios. A knowledgeable tour guide escorted them through Universal Studios where they explored behind the scenes of real Hollywood film sets and visited the World-Famous Property Department—where real set pieces from movies and television shows are housed.
He was thrilled to have skip-the-line access to rides and attractions. Darcy especially loved that he could enjoy the virtual rides because they didn’t cause him physical discomfort—something Mary, Darcy’s mom, said was a first. The family also took a day trip and explored Santa Monica where Darcy had a great time on the Ferris wheel ride.
“We loved the VIP experience and how very easy and fun the days were. Zero stress. Darcy had such a thrilling time and we want to thank Make-A-Wish,” said Mary.
Special thanks to MUFG Bank Canada for helping fulfill Darcy’s wish. His wish was made possible thanks to your generosity.
