Tony was diagnosed with leukemia at age 10 and the intense chemotherapy treatment he underwent led to liver damage. In 2015, Tony received a life-saving liver transplant.
After years spent in hospital rooms and days filled with medical appointments, Tony’s one true wish was for a bedroom that could be his own personal space, where he could “chill” with friends and family.
When Tony learned he would have his wish granted by Make-A-Wish® Toronto & Central Ontario, he shared his bedroom wish list with volunteer wish grantors, Mike and Julie, who quickly went to work to make Tony’s dream a reality.
While the volunteer team was busy making over Tony’s room, Tony and his family were treated to a day at Dave & Buster’s where they enjoyed time as a family and took part in one of Tony’s favourite hobbies –video gaming!
The moment Tony saw his completed bedroom, he said he felt very happy and excited. He exclaimed that this had been an “unbelievable experience” and it checked off everything on his wish list: modern furniture, new light fixtures, a TV and video gaming system and best of all – wall art of his favourite Japanese anime series, Dragon Ball Z.
