A Holiday Wish-Come True for Vonn

Vonn lives with a hematologic disorder and regularly spends time in the hospital and travels to meet with specialists for his condition. He was waiting for a bone marrow transplant when Make-A-Wish asked him what he would wish for if he could have anything in the world. Vonn only wanted one thing, to celebrate the holiday season by meeting Santa Claus at the North Pole.

In December, Vonn and his family travelled to Arizona where they boarded a bus that transported them through a magical portal to the North Pole and Santa’s workshop. He toured the toy factory and learned how to make toys with the elves – he even built his own skateboard. After completing ‘Elf University,’ Vonn was named an honorary elf at the workshop. He was very excited to meet Santa and enjoyed some one-on-one time with him, asking questions about his life at the North Pole and having their photos taken together.

His mother says, “Vonn was feeling great the whole trip, which was amazing. He is a true believer in Santa now, and probably forever. It was such great quality family time.”

“I got one of Santa’s bells from his sleigh. If you can hear it, that obviously means you believe in Santa,” says Vonn.

When a wish is granted, it does much more than bring joy to a child’s heart. For kids like Vonn who are living with critical illnesses, a wish-come-true provides them with strength to battle through darkness and gives them hope for healthier, happier days ahead.
