                                                     Meet Kael, an active nine-year-old from Frankville, Ont. who has the
                                                     spirit of a warrior. As you watch him run around and play with his
                                                     siblings, you would never believe that he has endured more battles
                                                     than most children his age. Kael was diagnosed with a rare immune
                                                     deciency disorder when he was ve years old and went on to miss two
                                                     full years of school as he received treatment and underwent a life-saving
                                                     bone marrow transplant surgery. Kael faced a long road to recovery; in
                                                     fact, at one point he even had to spend six months in isolation to avoid
                                                     the risk of infection as he recovered.
                                                     Kael was very excited to learn that Make-A-Wish would be granting his
                                                     one true wish. Growing up on his family’s dairy farm, he spends a lot
                                                     of time outdoors and he has always wanted a treehouse or clubhouse to

                                    Disorder         in wooden playhouses for kids, and they got to work on creating a
                                    I wish to have my   kid-friendly cabin for Kael. The playhouse — completely customized to
                                    very own hideout  Kael’s tastes — travelled all the way from Calgary to arrive at the family
                                                     home, where loved ones gathered for the big reveal.

        Kael’s family is thrilled to have his playhouse on the property. “The kids are enjoying countless hours each day playing,
        planning and connecting like children should,” says Kael’s mother, Emily. “His wish went beyond just a tangible item that
        he could look forward to, it was about having a childhood, spending time with his best friends
        he could look forward to, it was about having a childhood, spending time with his best friends
        (his siblings) and having a place he could ‘escape’ to. Dealing with an illness means a world of

                                                                            of dedicated volunteers, designers and
                                                                            contractors, granted a life-changing room
                                                                            makeover wish  for 15-year-old Jack.
                                                                            Jack was born with a rare genetic condition
                                                                            called Becker’s muscular dystrophy and as a

                                                                            more limited. Jack’s one true wish was to
                                                                            have a LEGO -themed room in his basement
                                                                                       ®
                                                                            that he could access with ease. As part of the
                                                                            makeover, a stair lift was installed to give Jack
                                                                            the independence and access to his basement
          that he wanted. Jack’s family can now enjoy time together in this new space with all of the comforts and activities that
          Jack wished for.
          Jack’s room makeover wish was featured on The Marilyn Denis Show on Oct. 20, 2016 on CTV. Thank you to everyone
          involved with the show for supporting Jack’s wish and sharing his inspiring story with a national audience.
