Pita Pit Continues to Support Life-changing Wishes

Pita Pit is partnering with Make-A-Wish® Canada for the 5th year to help create hope for children with critical illnesses. The campaign will run from April 11 to April 29, 2022, raising much-needed funds by asking customers to make a donation when they purchase their item (online or in-store). Additionally, a generous donation of $1 from every pita sold will be made from participating locations on World Wish Day, which takes place annually on April 29th and marks the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish.

“Pita Pit Canada is honoured to help make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses by supporting Make-A-Wish Canada. Pita Pit Franchisees have a proud history of supporting many charities throughout Canada, the US and around the world” says Terry Faulconbridge VP, Pita Pit. “Through the recent challenges with COVID-19 Make-A-Wish has strived to continue making wishes come true.  Every child’s wish begins with hope and Make-A-Wish wants to fulfill as many wishes as they can”.

Spring is a time of new beginnings and renewed hope as we emerge from the dark clouds of isolation and anxiety that hovered over us for the past two years. With hope, we find the resilience to restart the dreams that we have put on hold and feel the warmth of reconnecting with loved ones and friends. But for many children with critical illnesses, doctor’s visits, painful treatments and isolation continue to be their “normal”, robbing them of the simple joys of childhood.

In 2019, Make-A-Wish Canada granted over 1,600 life changing wishes. But 2020 and 2021 were very different and as a result of COVID-19, thousands of wishes are waiting. “We’re so grateful to Pita Pit and their entire network of customers and store owners for their ongoing support and strong belief in the power of a wish” says Sheila Rees, Executive Vice President Development. “Challenges related to COVID-19 persisted through last year, including the cancellation of many in-person activities and fundraising campaigns, leaving thousands of wishes still waiting to be granted. To have the ongoing support of Pita Pit provides us with the confidence to plan and the sustainable funding we need to address the backlog of wishes, helping us to ensure that no child will have to wait for their already delayed wish”.
