DECEMBER 2, 2020 — Make-A-Wish® Canada and CSN Collision Centres have partnered in their first National Virtual Auction, taking place from December 3, 2020 to December 10, 2020. Bid on unique experiences, like exclusive Toronto Raptors tickets and high-end items such as, an Apple iPad, iWatch and 65” Smart TVs. Visit hopefortheholidays for more details about the auction, and to view the almost 200 items up for bid.
“Since 2011, CSN Collision Centres has raised close to $450,000 to support our mission,” says Chris Pon, Make-A-Wish Canada’s VP, National Corporate Alliances. “Innovation has been at the core of their fundraising efforts for Make-A-Wish®. The national virtual auction is another shining example of how CSN, their 200 locations, vendors and suppliers, are committed to ensure that life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses will continue in the communities they serve across Canada during these extraordinary times. Thanks again to CSN for giving our wish kids, and their families, hope and peace of mind when they need it most!”
Right now, there are over 430 wish kids whose wishes have been postponed because of COVID-19 — and that number grows every day as the global pandemic continues. While Make-A-Wish Canada’s ability to grant wishes that involve travel and gatherings has been impacted, our life-changing work continues. We remain focused on our mission and continue to grant memorable wishes while keeping our wish families safe.
“We know how important hope is for Make-A-Wish kids and this year has been challenging for everyone, but especially for charities. As soon as we heard that over 430 wishes in Canada have been delayed, we knew we wanted to come together to fulfill as many wishes as we can. The cause Make-A-Wish stands for is something really important to CSN, our collision centres, and our brand ambassador, James Hinchcliffe, so to collaborate and help raise funds for children with critical illnesses is something we’re thrilled to be able to do going into the holidays.” said Ashley Thorpe, Director of Marketing and Communications, CSN Collision Centres.
A native of Oakville, Ontario, James Hinchliffe, will begin his 11th season of IndyCar Series competition in 2021. It will also mark the third year James represents CSN and their 240 Collision repair locations in Canada as well as the United States. The Dancing with the Stars Season 23 runner-up has captured one pole position (Indianapolis 500, 2016), 16 podium finishes, and six times he has been victorious.
“Make-A-Wish has a special place in my heart, says James. Whenever there is a chance to do something to support Make-A-Wish kids and bring them hope, I am first in line. This year has been tough on everyone, but for kids whose wishes have been postponed, they need our support and deserve to have their spirits lifted going into the holidays.”
For a child fighting a critical illness, every day of waiting for a wish is one too many. By participating in the auction, you can help give a kid a piece of their childhood back this holiday season.
About Make-A-Wish® Canada
Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and volunteers across the country help grant more than four wishes per day, on average. Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Canada has granted over 34,000 wishes across the country, over 1,600 last year alone
