December, 2022

Make-A-Wish Canada has launched an online gift book where donors can purchase a virtual gift for their friends and family this holiday season. Choose from twenty symbolic gift items, with each gift representing the impact of a granted wish. Gifts range from $10 – $2,500. All purchases are eligible for a tax receipt and include an option to send a digital card to the recipient.

“Giving a virtual gift through our new gift book is a great way to show you care, not only to your friends and family, but to wish kids who are coping with a critical illness” said Meaghan Stovel McKnight, Chief Executive Officer of Make-A-Wish Canada. “With 4,000 wishes across the country still waiting for their wish due to the pandemic, we’re working hard to reduce the backlog and are thankful to everyone for their support this holiday season.”

Funds raised from the gift book grant life-changing wishes for kids like Janine, who received a puppy named Max in 2022. Having a wish to look forward to greatly helped Janine focus on positive thoughts during treatment for leukemia and continues to be an important part of her life. Janine’s mom Laura commented, “Having Max has gotten Janine to be more active, going outside for walks and taking the puppy out to play.”

We serve children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide.
