Make-A-Wish® Canada is thrilled to announce the launch of its new charity gift program called WishGifts offering Canadians a new way to make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses. People can choose from a variety of gifts online for every budget that represent items typically needed to help fulfill a child’s wish. All WishGifts donations receive a free e-card and tax receipt, making it a truly rewarding experience for all. Plus, select gifts will be matched 2x to double the impact for wish kids.
“There are few experiences more impactful than making a wish come true and all of us have the power to do that”, said Meaghan Stovel McKnight, CEO of Make-A-Wish Canada. “Our new WishGifts catalogue offers people a convenient and purposeful way to give back this holiday season while creating a lasting impact on the lives of children with critical illnesses.”
In a world where material possessions often lose their significance, WishGifts provides an opportunity for everyone to make a meaningful impact. Donors can shop for the most popular wishes that children ask for. Whether it’s a gift that helps support travel, technology that helps wish kids reconnect to their friends, or providing a unique experience like being a superhero, each symbolic gift brings hope and joy to a child in need.
Wishes have far-reaching effects on children with critical illnesses and their families. They help empower children to make their own decisions, offer opportunities for creativity and self-expression, and improve their mental health.
WishGifts help children like 12-year-old Grayson who lives with a metabolic disorder. Travelling to his favourite Florida theme park earlier this year was a game-changer. “Grayson has ALWAYS wanted to travel,” said his father, Wayne. “Unfortunately, we are limited as it’s important for us to have as much access and control of food and medical care as possible. The impact of his wish was huge; to be able to provide him an experience and show him the generosity of others and how it can change a life, are invaluable lessons.”
The WishGifts catalogue can be found online at wishgifts.ca and in mailboxes across Canada.

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. As an independently operating affiliate of Make-A-Wish International, Make-A-Wish Canada is part of the network of the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization. We serve children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide. In 2023, Make-A-Wish Canada is proudly celebrating 40 years of wish granting, having granted more than 38,000 wishes since 1983, with 1,400 of them last year alone.
