43 Canadian Landmarks Light Up Blue for World Wish Day on April 29th

43 landmarks across Canada will be illuminated in blue on April 29th to commemorate World Wish Day®, a day that celebrates the wish that inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish®, the world’s largest wish granting organization. The illumination of these iconic landmarks serves as a beacon of hope, symbolizing the collective efforts of Make-A-Wish Canada, its dedicated volunteers, and generous donors who make wishes possible. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to support children with critical illnesses and the transformative power of a wish experience.
“On April 29th, and every day, we want our wish kids and their families to realize that they are not alone and that wishes can indeed come true”, said Meaghan Stovel McKnight, CEO, Make-A-Wish Canada. “We encourage all Canadians to show their support by wearing blue on April 29th and sharing it on their social media channels with the hashtag #WorldWishDay.”
In 2023, Make-A-Wish Canada, granted 1,389 wishes to children in 576 communities throughout the country. These wishes have had a profound impact on the lives of these brave children, providing them with cherished memories and hope during challenging times. They are often the turning point in a child’s recovery.
World Wish Day holds great significance for Make-A-Wish Canada and the communities it serves. It marks the anniversary of the wish that ignited a movement of wish granting that has since touched the lives of thousands of children worldwide. By lighting up 43 landmarks in blue, Canada joins a global network of supporters who are united in their commitment to making wishes come true.
