2022 National Convenience Week
Make-A-Wish® Canada is excited to once again partner with the Convenience Industry Council of Canada (CICC) and thousands of convenience stores across the country for National Convenience Week 2022. National Convenience Week takes place Monday, August 29th to Friday, September 2nd, 2022. The event recognizes and celebrates convenience stores, and all the essential workers who have continued to serve our communities throughout the pandemic, all while raising much-needed funds to support wish granting. Beau’s wish story
Beau was just a few months shy of turning two when he was diagnosed with cancer. After undergoing surgery to remove a tumour, he underwent a chemotherapy treatment protocol. Both the surgery and the chemotherapy were successful, and now four year-old Beau has been cancer free since April 2019.
When Beau found out that he was eligible for a wish it came as amazing news, especially after the tough months they endured upon receiving news of Beau’s diagnosis. Beau is an adrenaline junkie who loves swimming and water slides so he knew he wanted to have a wish experience with those involved. After some thought, Beau wished to have time spent with his family, to make new lifelong memories.
Not only was this wish an amazing experience that strengthened their family bond, but it allowed them to forget about the anniversary of his diagnosis. Reflecting on with wish experience, Beau’s mom said, “We had an excuse to spend time together and to make new memories – especially being able to take away the day of his diagnosis!”
Hope is essential for children with critical illnesses, and its life-changing power is unlocked when wishes like Beau’s are granted. It is thanks to the generosity from our donor community that we can continue to transform lives, one wish at a time.
