I wish to have an at home recording studio

15-year-old Dracen, or Dray as his family calls him, enjoys cooking for his family, spending time with his friends, and playing the drums and guitar. Yet, as he embraced all the things that made him feel most like himself, an unexpected and unimaginable challenge was just around the corner. At 12 years old, his life was flipped upside down after receiving the devastating diagnosis that he had a brain tumour.

In a whirlwind, less than one week after his diagnosis, he had his first brain surgery to try to remove the tumour. Two months later, he underwent a second brain surgery to remove what remained. A few months after the second surgery, he travelled to Florida to undergo daily radiation for two months. “He is a true fighter, and we are so proud of him!” Dray’s mom Tracey shared.

Dray’s wish came as no surprise to anyone who knows him, given his love for music. He wished to have an at-home recording studio! “[The wish was] definitely something to look forward to!” Tracey shared. While Dray was eagerly awaiting his studio to be set up, he continued to play his drum set and guitar, channeling his inner artist.

Included in his wish were some books to help him learn how to make music, a subscription to a digital audio workstation, headphones, audio equipment, a microphone, studio monitors, and the most important part, a beat pad. He was in awe once the studio was set up and couldn’t believe his eyes. Once all the excitement from the day had settled and he had the chance to record, Dray stayed in the studio for 14 hours making beats for a song he’s creating. Dray is looking forward to continuing to make music using all the knowledge and equipment from his wish day!
