I wish to go to a tropical destination

Akram is an 11-year-old social butterfly and car enthusiast. Driven by curiosity, he loves to travel, play soccer with his friends, and spend time with his family. 

He was only 10 when he received a diagnosis that changed his life and his family’s: a rare tumour that forms in the spinal cord and originates in the ependyma, a tissue of the central nervous system. The family was devastated. Akram underwent major spinal cord surgery lasting 10 hours, followed by 30 proton therapy sessions. 

Since then, Akram has an MRI every three months to ensure that everything is okay. He has found a new balance, but because there’s still a trace of the tumour near the sacrum, vigilance remains high. 

Today, Akram is doing much better. He has returned to a normal life and continues to fully enjoy his childhood. His favourite part of his journey was to make new friends, socialize with families who went through similar challenges, swim, observe marine life, eat out, and sleep at the hotel—simple moments of joy and comfort. 

His mom, Awatef, said that the wish trip brought so much joy and lots of moments filled with positive emotions.
