Ways To Give

Our goal is to create unforgettable experiences for children and their families through our wish granting process. But we can’t do it alone. Every single donation helps to ensure that every child’s one true wish comes true.

By donating to Make-A-Wish® you help transform lives. You give children with critical illnesses a reason to hope for a brighter future. And most of all, you help make their life-changing wishes come true.

There are many ways to donate and support Make-A-Wish. These gift giving options can suit every donor. See below for more information.

monthly gift

Monthly Gift

By giving to Make-A-Wish as a monthly donor, you will help reduce administrative costs, and enable us to dedicate more of your monies directly to our wish granting mission. And, as a monthly donor, you’ll receive one tax receipt per year for your total, annual contribution.

one time gift

One-Time Gift

Make-A-Wish offers various one-time gift options suited for every donor.

Ways to give a one-time gift are:

  • Donate online or mail in your completed donation form
  • Donate and send a e-card
  • Make a tribute gift in honour or in memory of a loved one

gift book

Gift Book

Choose from 20 symbolic gift items, with every gift representing the impact of a granted wish. From puppy wishes to once-in-a-lifetime adventures, your gift will help fund life-changing wishes that will create hope and spark joy in children with critical illnesses.

tribute gift

Tribute Gift

There’s nothing more meaningful and heartfelt than making a tribute gift in honour or in memory of someone. A tribute gift allows you to show a loved one how much you care, while helping to grant life-changing wishes. A tribute gift can be made online or through our mail-in donation form.

To acknowledge your tribute gift, you can send a chosen recipient an e-card (online donation only) or a printed, mailed card, with your custom message enclosed.

gift of securities

Gifts of Securities

When you make a gift of securities to Make-A-Wish Canada, you are helping to bring hope and joy to a child living with a critical illness. By donating publicly traded securities, you also receive double the benefits.

Donating appreciated stocks, mutual funds or stock options means you pay no tax on the capital gains and receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of the securities based on the closing price on the day the securities have legally transferred to the Make-A-Wish Foundations’ investment account. It benefits you more than giving cash as it provides a substantial tax incentive.

By making a gift of securities, you become part of a dedicated community of individuals who support our mission to grant the wish of every eligible child.

*Make-A-Wish Canada strongly recommends you seek the advice of an accountant or financial advisor to decide which investments will make the most philanthropic and financial benefit to you.

Legacy Gift

When you leave a personal legacy to Make-A-Wish, you’re making a powerful statement, while ensuring that future generations of wish children and their families are able to have life-changing wish granting experiences. A will ensures that heirs, assets and causes that are important to you are honoured and protected. There are tax benefits with this type of giving. It is recommended that you discuss legacy gift intentions with your financial and legal advisors, as well as with your family. Learn more about the legacy gift options available:
