The Hope Run was founded in memoriam of Gus Hope by Stephen and Kelly Scragg. Gus was a very dear family friend who lived life fearlessly and to the fullest and inspired everyone he came in contact with. Throughout his journey with cancer, Gus never once let it define him and was so much more than his illness. Instead of focusing purely on cancer initiatives, we have partnered up with Make-A-Wish® Northern Alberta in order to help kids living with life-threatening medical conditions. To be able to grant a wish for children in memory of someone who has inspired so many is the motivation behind the Hope Run.
The mission of Make-A-Wish® is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. A wish come true empowers the children to fight harder against their illness, and, for many, a wish granted marks a turning point in their fight against their condition. There is power in a wish – a power that impacts all those involved in the wish granting process. From the wish child recipient, to the volunteer wish grantor and donors, the power of a wish is a magical thing to experience. Each wish is as personal and unique as the child who wishes it.
The goal for the Hope Run is to provide as many children with wishes as we can. We want to help these brave kids with the opportunity to chase their own dreams, but we do need your support! Every donation goes directly to Make-A-Wish® Northern Alberta in order to fund as many wishes as possible. More information: hoperun.ca
