As the CEO of  Canada’s largest wishing granting organization, my first priority during the COVID-19 pandemic is the safety and well-being of our wish families, community supporters, volunteers, partners and employees.

Through these uncertain times, Make-A-Wish® Canada, is working hard to continue to bring hope into the lives of children facing their most difficult days.  What we do hasn’t changed but the way we operate has as we continue to monitor and adhere to best-practices guidance from national, provincial, municipal and international public health and government bodies.

For the wish children and families we serve, working through challenging circumstances is something they have been doing long before the rest of us heard the word “lockdown.” Facing hospital stays, doctor’s visits, painful treatments and isolation is part of our wish kid’s “normal.” It is through these children that we find our own strength and way forward, to continue to give a piece of their childhood back to them.

As a result of the pandemic, we experienced a $16M revenue shortfall last year. Thousands of wish kids are patiently waiting, but with your continued commitment to our mission, we can still create hope each and every day.

Without you, it simply would not be possible to bring the much-needed strength and joy that a life-changing wish delivers, to so many children and families across Canada.

As the days and weeks progress, we will keep you informed and up to date, but if you have any immediate questions, please send an email to

Above all, thank you for your continued support and willingness to create hope today. It means the world to us, and to our wish families. Together, we can continue to bring life-changing experiences to so many of these incredible children!

Please stay healthy and stay safe!
