Meaghan Stovel McKnight
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

As Chief Executive Officer, Meaghan Stovel McKnight leads Make-A-Wish® Canada in its mission to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. She brings over two decades of mission motivated leadership to her role at Make-A-Wish Canada, and possesses an outstanding track record of building strong teams and delivering exceptional results in both the private and not-for-profit sectors.

Meaghan shifted her career into the nonprofit sector in 2012 because she profoundly believes that health is at the heart of everything, and that the charitable sector is essential to the success of our health system in Canada. Through her work at hospital foundations, medical research charities, and at Make-A-Wish Canada, she advocates that the health and healing that we desire for our families and our communities is dependent on the charitable sector. This is why Meaghan has dedicated her career to strengthening the health system through nonprofit leadership to ensure all Canadians have access to the care they need when they need it the most.  She is a sought-after speaker, mentor and leader in the areas of nonprofit strategy and leadership, fundraising, innovation, board engagement, and workplace culture.

Prior to joining Make-A-Wish, Meaghan spent the last decade as Chief Operating Officer at two of Canada’s largest charities, leading diverse teams through significant transformation and growth. Most recently Meaghan served as Chief Operating Officer at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation where, despite the significant turbulence of the pandemic, she led the team to modernize foundation operations, elevate fundraising, and earn recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. Prior to this, she led the operational merger of two charities to form Trillium Health Partners Foundation beginning in 2012.  Before shifting into the non-profit sector seeking a greater purpose, she translated strategy into results by working across Canada and the USA at Bell Canada and McKinsey & Company.

Meaghan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), and was recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.
