As Chief Executive Officer, Lynne Hudson leads Make-A-Wish® Canada in its mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide. Make-A-Wish is on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness.
Before joining Make-A-Wish Canada, Lynne was President & CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), the largest national charitable funder of cancer research in Canada and a leading provider of cancer information and invaluable support services for those affected by the disease. Prior to joining CCS in October 2016, she served as CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF).
Lynne’s visionary leadership was instrumental in the success of the historic merger between CBCF and CCS in February 2017. Her results-oriented approach helped guide CCS through tremendous transformational change to achieve an incredible 28% year-over-year reduction in fundraising expenses, a $33M bottom-line improvement in its first fiscal year post-merger and a $15M surplus in the second year. She was awarded Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 in 2018.
An accomplished leader with extensive experience in change management, strategic planning, fundraising and development, Lynne has worked in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors both domestically and internationally. She held an executive leadership role at Plan International Canada for 8 years. During her time there, Lynne helped drive revenues from $75 million to over $200 million, and championed programs promoting girls’ rights and gender equality around the world. She has also worked with Ernst & Young in their Financial Management Group and with Nortel Networks in a variety of roles in Toronto and Miami.
Lynne is past member of the Board of Directors of the Health Charities Coalition of Canada (HCCC), and Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC). She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from the University of Miami.
