Inaugural Women For Wishes Campaign raises over $1,000,000 for Make-A-Wish Canada
October 5, 2023 Make-A-Wish Canada is thrilled to announce the successful completion of our first annual Women for Wishes campaign, exceeding our $1 million campaign goal.
Women for Wishes is a first-of-its kind program at Make-A-Wish Canada, designed to galvanize women from across the country and inspire them to stand up in their community and fund life changing wishes for children with critical illness.
During the 6-month campaign, 134 participants either directly donated or raised funds through their networks to each raise $10,000 which is the symbolic value of a wish. Together, this national network of female philanthropists and fundraisers cumulatively achieved a total of over $1,030,000 to fund over 100 wishes for children from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
“We launched the Women for Wishes campaign because we believe that the power of women working together towards a common goal is unstoppable,” said Meaghan Stovel McKnight, Chief Executive Officer, Make-A-Wish Canada. “We thank all of our Women for Wishes leaders for the passion and leadership in support of our mission. With your support, we will be able to grant over 100 wishes that will deliver transformational and therapeutic benefits to children and families facing critical illness”.
“Children and their families shouldn’t have to face any of the hardships and realities of their diseases and diagnosis,” said Nicole Campbell, President, Yorkton Concrete in Saskatchewan, one of the campaign’s participants who personally helped to raise more than $75,000. “Any small part I can play to bring happiness to wish kids is the least I can do.”
Each participant who reached their fundraising goal will be recognized with a pin created by Paris Jewellers specifically for this campaign. Paris Jewellers are long-standing supporters of Make-A-Wish Canada, and have continued to support of the organization through this contribution.
Make-A-Wish is planning the second annual campaign for 2024, and women are already signing up to participate. You can learn more about this campaign and sign up to participate at makeawish.ca/womenforwishes Opens in new tab.
